Exiting the Lohja church we could see that the partly cloudy sky could provide quite a nice sunset. Wade had a particular location in mind, but the sun was still a long ways from going down. This provided a perfect opportunity to stop for a snack at a service station. The family had mentioned before about the huge donuts served at the ABC store so that's what the kids ended up getting. Wade and I opted for ice cream bars. One thing that I find intriguing is that Finland still doesn't use much paper dishes. The sugary, cardamom scented donuts were served on ceramic plates and water was in glass cups. The only place we get that anymore in the US is at actual sit-down restaurants.
After our treats we drove a ways and parked on the side of the road in a little village area. We walked down a gravel drive and then started to climb up what is known as Kukkumaki Hill. It is pretty much solid rock with patches of scrub here and there. In the fall of 2016, Alyssa and I climbed it with Wade and Annette but it was so icy, I only made it about halfway. Since I have a bad cold and can't breathe very well now, I had to stop a bit on the way up. I used the excuse of taking pictures so I could catch my breath.

We stayed at the top until the sun was well set but it wasn't actually dark. I was wearing dress boots so wasn't looking forward to sliding down with my cell phone for a light. The kids used the time wisely, doing fun poses.
