Back up the Hjorundfjord

 November 6, 2022

After driving through the little village of Saebo, it was nice to see our boat, The Bruvik, waiting for us beside the dock.  We climbed aboard, sated on good food and experiences.

For a time we mostly sat quietly downstairs. I saw a few people even dozing as we began to make our way up the fjord.

As we got continued on, the rain ceased altogether, and there were some breaks in the clouds.  Soon I was back on the top deck, with my face in the breeze.

Without the rain in our faces, it was easier to see the little clusters of people living on the shorelines.

The clouds were constantly changing as the afternoon went on, often hanging around the jagged peaks.

The sunset, though not so vibrant, lent a happy note to the end our trip with its puffs of apricot clouds.

Soon we were seeing the lights of the outskirts of Alesund.

And back under the bridge, with our flag flying in the breeze.

Such cheery welcoming lights.

We said our farewells to captain, crew and our guide, and of course to our little ship.

And such a happy sight to see our big Hurtigruten ship waiting solidly at the dock.  Each of us would walk up the gang plank, and after scanning our boarding card, would hear a mechanical voice saying, "welcome", and we were home for the evening.
